PaperThin, Inc. Customers to Speak at Higher Education Technology Events

Boston, MA September 25, 2006 -- PaperThin, Inc., a leading Web publishing and content management software vendor today announced that its customers Colby College (Waterville, Maine) and Cornell University (Ithaca, N.Y.) will present at upcoming technology events for the higher education market. Colby College will speak at the HigherEd Symposium, October 3-4, 2006 in Worcester, Mass. and Cornell University will present at HighEdWebdev, October 22-25, 2006 in Rochester, N.Y. Both institutions will share their success story and experience in implementing PaperThin’s content management solution, CommonSpot™. PaperThin will also exhibit at both events.

In its first year, HigherEd Symposium is a technology event for education professionals such as CIOs, IT Managers, Directors of Web Services, and Webmasters to learn about new and improved tools and technologies to support an online campus. Colby College will present, “Managing Multiple Sites: Give Each Department/Campus a Platform for Communication” on Wednesday, October 4 at 11:30 AM. Join Robert Clockedile, managing editor of Web communications at Colby College, to learn how they have empowered departments to manage their own Web presence by providing them with the appropriate tools, knowledge, and incentives to succeed. Learn about the wide range of challenges and roadblocks (i.e. institutional inertia, apathy toward the importance of the Web, varied levels of technical skill) encountered, and how they found success in the face of those challenges. To register for the event or to learn more, visit http://pages.educationevents.com/WebSite/Index.aspx?C=70000047&S=50000061.

The annual HighEdWebDev Conference is one of the few events tailored specifically for higher education Web professionals. The 2006 theme, “Collective Intelligence” will explore the role of Web professionals in collecting and sharing the intelligence, knowledge, and wisdom of the entire institution. David DeMello, director of Web development at the School of Industrial & Labor Relations at Cornell University will present, “Migrating from a Custom-Built Content Management System to a Commercial Product: Lessons Learned” on October 23 at 3:00 PM. The presentation will explore the reasons for moving from a proprietary system to a commercial solution, PaperThin’s CommonSpot. It will also include a discussion around the unique requirements of the university and the specific challenges they faced when it came to site navigation, content syndication, preservation of standards-based design principles, and reuse of design assets. For more information about the event or to register, visit http://www.highedweb.org/2006/index.html.

“The information that Robert and David will present at these events is both relevant and compelling,” said Bob Cellucci, senior vice president of sales and marketing at PaperThin, Inc. “Managing multiple Web sites and successfully moving from a proprietary application to a well defined and flexible CMS are important real-world challenges facing many colleges and universities. Colby College and Cornell University have effectively addressed these challenges using CommonSpot and will share their stories and insights. I highly recommend these sessions to anyone planning to attend either event.”
