CMS vendor announces acquisition of new government customers
Washington, D.C. (FOSE 2004) March 23, 2004 -- PaperThin, Inc., a leading mid-market content management system vendor, today announced that several government organizations have recently selected its award-winning CommonSpot™ Content Server to affordably and efficiently publish content to their Internet, intranet and extranet sites.
Creating easy-to-use, easy-to-maintain Web sites is critical to federal, state, and local government agencies. According to a recent study by the Pew Internet & American Life Project, more Americans have sought information from government Web sites than have sought financial information online, made travel reservations, sent instant messages, or gotten sports information online.
Joining PaperThin’s list of government organizations that have successfully deployed CommonSpot to manage their Web sites are Central Contra Costa County Sanitary District (Martinez, Calif.), Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles (Los Angeles, Calif.) and National Park Service (Washington, D.C.). Deploying CommonSpot allows these organizations to make it easy for citizens and businesses to interact with the government, save taxpayer dollars, and streamline citizen-to-government communications. Using CommonSpot, the National Park Service will enable non-technical staff from each of its 350 national parks to keep information about the parks current, and easily upload new images and other resources for park visitors.
"The Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles selected CommonSpot because it assists us with managing Web content from several different field offices and administrative departments. This is the solution we needed for our long term ability to keep our stakeholders informed about our projects and programs," noted Kiara Harris, Director of Communication & Public Affairs, at the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles.
Compliance with Section 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act is another important requirement for all government agencies, in order to ensure that electronic and information technology is accessible to people with disabilities. For the second consecutive year, industry experts at CMSWatch recently recognized CommonSpot in the Accessibility/508 Compliance content management feature category. CommonSpot provides simple-to-use facilities for creating Web content that complies with Section 508 standards.
“Our public sector customers depend on CommonSpot because they are able to rapidly deploy scalable, secure Web sites that can be easily maintained by non-technical city, state and federal employees. We’re pleased with the success our government customers have experienced with CommonSpot, and look forward to continually enhancing CommonSpot to meet the changing needs of this sector,” noted Todd Peters, president of PaperThin, Inc.
