Web design, development and hosting firms recognize benefits of leveraging CommonSpot™ Content Server
Boston, MA (April 7, 2003) — PaperThin, Inc., a leading mid-market content management system (CMS) vendor, today announced that it has signed distribution agreements with five new strategic partners. These firms, engaged in Web design, development and/or Web hosting, have partnered with PaperThin in order to offer their customers an affordable packaged solution for creating and publishing content and managing dynamic Web sites with CommonSpot Content Server. New PaperThin partners in the U.S. include Advansia (Montclair, N.J.), Beaconfire Consulting, Inc. (Falls Church, Va.) and Cylogy (San Francisco, Calif.). In Europe, new PaperThin partners include Ecsoft (London) and Iconlink AG (Zurich).
With an off-the-shelf CMS, Web design and development firms can resell and implement a proven technology, and thus build dynamic sites for customers faster. Deploying a packaged CMS frees time to focus resources on core capabilities like innovative design and development. There are also benefits to the firms’ customers. Rather than having to rely on the consultant to coordinate basic content updates to the site, organizations can now manage their own Web sites. This results in substantial cost savings to the customer over time, ensures more timely updates of content, and allows control of the site’s content to remain with the customer.
PaperThin’s CommonSpot Content Server provides easy-to-use tools for creating and publishing content within a controlled environment. Out of the box features such as templates and style sheets allow a designer to maintain a consistent look and feel throughout the site, and features like personalization allow developers to build dynamic sites. Granular security ensures that content is modified and accessed only by users with appropriate rights. Once the site has been built, the customer’s business staff can maintain it directly. Designed specifically for business users, no special technical knowledge is required, and authors can easily publish documents, images, PDFs, video clips and other content on the Web site using a wizards-based interface.
“By implementing CommonSpot, our partners can focus their efforts around designing and developing attractive and usable sites. CommonSpot provides extensive features out-of-the-box
– features that might otherwise require custom coding. This allows our partners to build sophisticated, reliable sites faster, and saves their customers money,” noted PaperThin president Todd Peters.
“CommonSpot is a feature-dense yet flexible and approachable platform that delivers powerful content management and publishing functionality for a widely accessible price. This software has allowed us to quickly and professionally implement a personalized research and collaboration portal for one of our premier financial services clients, and has created the opportunity for many of our clients to implement a solid publishing system that previously would have been considered outside of their budgets,” said Brice Dunwoodie, director of professional services for Cylogy, Inc.
