Emerson College Selects PaperThin's CommonSpot to Support Online Content Management and Marketing Strategies

Boston, March 21, 2006 -- PaperThin, Inc., a leading mid-market Web publishing and content management software vendor today announced that Emerson College, which is recognized for excellence in undergraduate and graduate programs in communication and the arts, has selected CommonSpot as the content management system for its main Web site and a new Admissions Web portal.

David Rosen, the College’s vice president for public affairs, said the Boston-based school selected CommonSpot because “it provides a robust, enterprise-level solution to our content management needs using a ColdFusion-based architecture. We were impressed by the flexibility and versatility of the software and the fact that it performs well on both the PC and Macintosh platforms.”

Another factor in Emerson’s decision to select CommonSpot was PaperThin’s extensive experience in and commitment to the higher education market. “PaperThin understands the special needs of institutions like ours and how they differ in many respects from those of a commercial enterprise,” said Rosen.

In addition, Rosen noted that Emerson’s Web site plays a crucial role in the College’s marketing efforts which are aimed at recruiting talented students and faculty and generating financial support from alumni, parents and friends. It also serves as an important information function, enabling the College to communicate effectively with its key constituencies.

“Because CommonSpot is easy to use, highly flexible, and capable of segmenting and displaying common content in various locations across the site, using it to manage content will help us achieve these goals,” Rosen commented.

Extensive workflow and approval functionality as well as support for authoring content on both the Mac and PC platforms will allow staff across academic departments to easily collaborate and contribute content. CommonSpot’s sophisticated template-driven framework and ability to accommodate multiple layers of security and approval at the template, page, and element levels will also make it easier for the College to maintain consistent site-wide style and branding.

“We’re happy to have Emerson College join our expanding community of higher education customers,” said Bob Cellucci, senior vice president of sales & marketing at PaperThin. “CommonSpot’s flexibility and extensive functionality make it a natural fit for the Emerson team to achieve their campus wide goals. Streamlining internal operations, broadening content contribution, leveraging technical resources, and delivering a high quality user experience across the entire student life cycle, are consistent objectives among the colleges and universities who have selected PaperThin as their CMS vendor of choice.”
