Columbus Direct Insurance, a Collinson Group company and leading travel insurance specialist, recently deployed a new Internet site built in CommonSpot. The new site provides access to information about standard travel insurance, as well as other types – insurance for ski, trips, adventure travel, backpacking, the elderly, and more.

According to Marco Tjong A Tjoe, General Manager of Travel Information Services, CommonSpot's out-of-the-box features and customization capabilities provided for rapid development and easy integration of their external applications.

Developed by an in-house team in the UK and the Netherlands, this new site leverages many CommonSpot out-of-the-box features, including multi-language support, CSS Support, custom elements, workflow, custom metadata and personalization.

To reach Columbus Direct Insurance’s diverse audiences, content on the Columbus Direct Insurance site is published in English, Dutch, German, Italian, Spanish and French. CommonSpot’s multi-language feature allows for template reuse across the various language versions of the site, ensuring consistency in design.

In-house developers easily integrated a custom ‘Quote Finder’ application into the site, which allows visitors to get real-time quotes for travel insurance right on the Columbus Direct Insurance site. Personalization and scheduling were deployed for affinity partners in order to display different logos and promotions on the site. A combination of custom metadata and page index elements allows visitors to easily search FAQs on the site.
