Today more than 850 musicians, staff and volunteers in the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, the Memphis Symphony Chorus, the four orchestras within the Memphis Youth Symphony and the Memphis Symphony League operate with a $3.8 million budget to present symphonic music to radio, television and live audiences of more than half a million people annually. MSO dollars generate about $8.3 million for the local economy and create 112 full-time jobs.

Memphis Symphony musicians provide most of the talent for music education in the Mid-South. Not only does the MSO present dozens of educational concerts and events, but the MSO professional musicians reach thousands of students each year through private lessons, classes in public and private elementary and secondary schools, and courses at institutions such as Rhodes College, the University of Memphis, Vanderbilt University, and the University of Mississippi.
